In Information Technology, there is a saying that if it works, do not fix it. It means that if it works, do not mess with it unless there (is/are) problem(s) on it. Because if you mess it up, it might take a while before you can return it back to normal.

In our modern digital era, we must use our computers responsibly. To help us be responsible in using our computers, the "10 Commandments of Computer Ethics" can help us be responsible in using our computers. The version of the said text provided below is written in simple English.

  1. You Shall Not Use A Computer To Harm Other People.
  2. You Shall Not Obstruct With Other People’s Computer Work.
  3. You Shall Not Explore Other People’s Computer Files.
  4. You Shall Not Use A Computer To Steal.
  5. You Shall Not Use A Computer To Lie.
  6. You Shall Not Copy Or Use Proprietary Software That You Have Not Purchased.
  7. You Shall Not Use Other People’s Computer Resources Without Permission Or Proper Settlement.
  8. You Shall Not Claim Other People’s Intellectual Output As Your Own.
  9. You Shall Think About The Social Consequences Of The Program You Are Writing Or The System You Are Designing.
  10. You Shall Always Use A Computer In Ways That You Consider And Respect Your Fellow Humans.

In our modern digital era, we must use the internet responsibly. We must communicate with other people through the internet in a proper and ethical way. In order to guide us on how we should communicate with other people properly online, here are the 10 core rules of netiquette in simplified English.

  1. Remember that you are communicating with a human.
  2. Follow the same standards that you follow in real life when communicating with other people online.
  3. Know where you are in an online environment.
  4. Respect the time and maximum data transfer rate of other people.
  5. Make yourself look good online just like in real life.
  6. Share helpful knowledge.
  7. Help keep fighting between people over the internet under control.
  8. Respect the privacy of other people.
  9. Do not abuse your power.
  10. Forgive mistakes of other people.
